Ancient Traditions Reflect Scientific Wisdom: Venkaiah Naidu



Nellore: Former Vice President of India Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu said India’s ancient traditions reflect deep scientific and philosophical wisdom while addressing a book launch at Bhagwan Venkaiah Swamy Ashram in Golagamudi on Saturday.He was speaking at the release of Viswambharudu, a book on the life and teachings of Sri Venkaiah Swamy. Naidu said Indian culture offers guidance from birth to death and is rooted in harmony with universal energy. He noted that practices such as drawing rangoli and applying turmeric at the doorstep have scientific relevance. “The essence of Indian philosophy is ‘share and care’,” he said, adding that feeding the hungry is the highest form of service. He praised Venkaiah Swamy for practising these values through Annadanam and recalled the message: “What you eat is not yours; what you give is truly yours.” Expressing satisfaction over visiting Golagamudi, he noted that his daughter, Smt. Deepa Venkat, serves as a member of the Ashram Trust Board. Naidu lauded author Dampuru Ramakrishna, a retired tahsildar, for documenting the saint’s life after decades of research, and appreciated the organisers. Highlighting the ashram’s activities, he said it operates a rice mill for food distribution, a school for poor children, and a goshala, reflecting a blend of spirituality and service. Sarvepalli legislator Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Ashram EO P. Balasubhramany (Retd. IAS), Ashram member Deepa Venkat, APSRTC, Nellore Zone Chairman Sannareddy Suresh Reddy, BJP leader Duvvuru Radhakrishna Reddy, along with devotees and dignitaries, attended the event.
