Thailand to Revise Visa, Consular Fees for Indian Applicants from April 27

Thailand is set to revise visa and consular service fees for Indian applicants from April 27, bringing in a new pricing structure across multiple visa categories and related services.Citing an announcement by the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi, the revised fees will apply to a wide range of visas, including tourist, transit, non-immigrant, SMART and long-term residency categories. The updated charges will also cover consular services such as document legalisation and passport-related work. The embassy said the new rates will take effect from April 27 and remain in place until further notice.The change is expected to impact a large number of Indian travellers, including tourists, business visitors, students and professionals planning to travel to Thailand. The country continues to be a popular destination for Indians, but the revised fees could increase overall travel or relocation costs depending on the type of visa.As per the report, visa fees will vary widely across categories. Transit visas are expected to cost around Rs 2,500, while some long-term residency permits could go up to about Rs 1.4 lakh. Fees for other visas, such as non-immigrant and SMART visas, which are commonly used by professionals, investors and skilled workers, will depend on the duration and eligibility criteria.The embassy has advised applicants to check the latest fee details and requirements through official channels before applying. Costs may differ based on the visa type, number of entries and length of stay.Thailand has seen steady demand from Indian travellers over the years, supported by tourism, business links and good connectivity. The revision in fees is part of routine updates to consular charges and administrative costs, the report said.Applicants planning travel or long-term stays in Thailand are advised to plan ahead and factor in the revised fees while making arrangements.
