Nalgonda: Students of the Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) in Nalgonda staged a dharna in front of the Arts College on Monday protesting against worms found in the food served at the university boys hostel. Unhygienic food at the hostel has been a major issue at the MGU in recent times. In February this year, gutka packets had been found in the rice served in the mess to students. Red chilli had been served in place of curry for rice for breakfast in the mess of the Ladies’ Hostel of the university on January 8. Its visuals became viral on the social media Addressing the students staging dharna, MGU ABVP students’ president Hanuman said many students are falling ill after consuming unhygienic food in the various messes of the university hostels. He accused university vice chancellor Prof. Khaja Altaf Hussain of not visiting the mess. Hanuman said when the students met the VC, the latter asked them to eat the hostel food only if they want to. He charged that food safety officials are not checking the kind of food that is being in the university hostels.
