Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced four major decisions aimed at the welfare of government employees, including issuing of health cards to all employees by June 1 and clearance of ₹6,000 crore worth of pending retirement dues within 100 days. The Chief Minister also directed the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) to submit its report immediately, stating that the government was ready to take a decision on salary enhancement, and advised employee unions to meet once every two months to submit reports on their issues to the government.The announcements were made during a meeting with the Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) at his residence, where Revanth Reddy reiterated that the state government remained committed to the welfare of its employees. He acknowledged the crucial role played by government employees in the implementation of welfare schemes and development programmes of the Congress government.Welcoming the announcements, the Employees JAC expressed satisfaction over the government’s response and announced withdrawal of dharnas scheduled for May 5 and other protest programmes. JAC chairman M. Jagadish, TEJAC chairman Lachireddy, and members including A. Srinivasa Rao, G. Srinivasa Reddy, P. Damodar Reddy, G. Sadananda Goud, V. Ravinder Reddy, V. Rajashekhar and K. Ramakrishna were present at the meeting.Revanth Reddy noted that one of the first decisions taken by the Congress government was ensuring payment of salaries on the first day of every month. He added that employee unions were given the freedom to conduct their elections independently. Highlighting administrative reforms, the Chief Minister noted that teacher transfers were carried out in a planned manner without confusion or chaos.Responding positively to long-pending demands, the Chief Minister confirmed that health cards would be issued to all employees by June 1. He stated that ₹6,000 crore would be disbursed within 100 days towards retirement benefits, adding that employee unions could decide on prioritisation of fund utilisation.Revanth Reddy said that 67,760 employees had been recruited across various departments since the formation of the Congress government. He instructed PRC officials to submit their report without delay so that a decision on pay revision could be taken at the earliest. He also suggested that employee unions hold meetings every two months and formally communicate their concerns to the government, assuring them that resolving their issues was the government’s responsibility.Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, speaking at the meeting, assured that all pending bills would be cleared by Telangana Formation Day on June 2, stating that dues amounting to thousands of crores had accumulated over the past decade during the BRS regime. He said the government had undertaken a comprehensive exercise to address these issues and described the initiative as a testament to its sincere commitment towards employees. He added that the Chief Minister was moving forward with a well-defined plan to resolve all pending concerns.
