18 Lakh Govt School Students Receive Report Cards via WhatsApp



HYDERABAD: Parents of government school students began receiving their children’s annual report cards directly on WhatsApp, as the state pushed a large-scale digital rollout that covered Classes V to IX and reached more than 18 lakh students. The report cards, sent through Mee Seva under the IT, electronics and communications department, has a subject-wise marks and attendance details, removing the need for parents to visit schools for results. A sample progress card shows student information, school details, marks across formative and summative assessments, co-curricular evaluation, attendance record and promotion status. IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the decision to send report cards through WhatsApp was taken “to reach every student and parent with technological services.” He added that the system saves time and cost for families and allows access to academic records instantly in a secure, paperless format. Officials said parents can access the records without stepping into schools, as the entire process remains digital. The system-generated cards can still be collected in physical form from schools if required.
