Anantapur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday registered a disproportionate assets case against an Assistant BC Welfare Officer belonging to the Kadiri Division, Andhra Pradesh. The case against Puram Balaji was registered based on credible information about the acquisition of assets disproportionate to the legal source of income, according to the officials. The officials conducted simultaneous searches at four locations, including Balaji’s residential premises, Rayachoti, and Kadiri. Further details are awaited. In another raid at Anakapalli district on Monday, ACB officials caught P. Bhimavaram VRO Shankar Rao of Butchayya Peta Mandal, while taking a bribe of Rs 1, 50,000 from a farmer couple. A case was registered against the VRO.
