Telangana’s GST Collections At Record High At ₹4,621 Cr In April

Hyderabad: Telangana has recorded a robust surge in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenues for April 2026, with collections rising by 35 per cent year-on-year to ₹4,621 crore, compared to ₹3,422 crore in April last year. According to the data released by the commercial taxes department on Friday, this was the highest-ever monthly collection since the inception of GST, surpassing the previous record of ₹4,231 crore registered just a month prior. The data reflects sustained economic momentum and improved tax compliance in the state, the department stated. The state has consistently maintained GST collections above ₹4,000 crore for four months since January, indicating strong buoyancy in economic activity and steady revenue growth. The sharp increase in collections has been attributed to a surge in economic activity across key sectors, aided by a business-friendly environment that has attracted fresh investments, enabled expansion of existing enterprises, and boosted consumption levels. Officials noted that improved compliance measures and better enforcement have also played a crucial role in enhancing revenue realisation. The sustained growth trend in GST collections highlight the strengthening fiscal position of the state and reflects the resilience of Telangana’s economy.
