Musi Project to Kick Off in August; Govt Targets 2027 Completion with “Fair” ResettlementHyderabad: The government said work on the Musi River rejuvenation project will begin by August and finish by December 2027. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka assured residents who are likely to face displacement that support would be provided in a lawful and fair manner.He was speaking at a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee, which he heads and also comprises ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar. Representatives of the Madhu Park Ridge (B-Block) Residential Association attended the discussions, which focused on project timelines, funding, public concerns and construction plans.Bhatti told residents that the government was taking a “very positive” view towards those living in Madhu Park Ridge B-Block. The project was intended to improve living conditions across the city, he said. “The government’s goal is to provide clean air, water and greenery to city dwellers,” he said while asking residents to cooperate with the project.Association representatives submitted their concerns and requests to the ministers. The government said the residents responded positively after officials clarified their doubts related to the project.The committee said the Musi rejuvenation exercise was “not merely a river-cleaning exercise but a broader social responsibility.” It said the project would move ahead through public participation and that development should involve people as stakeholders instead of displacing them without consultation.Officials received instructions to minimise the effect on houses and private properties. The committee also suggested changes in alignments wherever possible to reduce the impact on existing structures.Bhatti directed officials to secure all environmental clearances before construction begins. He asked departments to publicise the project across the city through hoardings, bus stands, main roads and cinema screenings. Special committees will coordinate approvals, finances and departmental works.
