Washington, DC: Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Iran will engage in diplomatic talks, while warning the country will “see problems” if it refuses to cooperate.Speaking during a phone interview with The John Fredericks Show, Trump maintained a firm stance on the need for a new agreement. “Well, they’re going to negotiate, and if they don’t, they’re going to see problems like they’ve never seen before,” he said.He emphasised that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains a core objective. “Hopefully, they’ll make a fair deal and build their country back up, but they will not have a nuclear weapon,” Trump added.The President underscored the global stakes, saying such weapons could lead to catastrophic consequences. “We can’t allow that to happen. That could be the destruction of the world, and we’re not going to let that happen,” he stated.Defending recent military actions, Trump said his administration “had no choice” and claimed progress toward resolving the situation. “We’ve done a great job, and we’ll get it closed out, and everybody’s going to be happy,” he said.Trump also took to Truth Social to defend the conflict, posting multiple messages in quick succession. He reiterated threats to target Iranian infrastructure if a deal is not reached and praised Operation Midnight Hammer, describing it as the “complete and total obliteration” of nuclear-related sites.The remarks drew a sharp response from Tehran. Mohammad Ghalibaf accused Trump of attempting to turn negotiations into a “table of surrender.” Writing on X, he said Iran would not accept talks under threat and was prepared to respond.Despite rising tensions and uncertainty over the ceasefire, there are indications of possible diplomatic movement.
