KAKINADA: Eluru Lok Sabha member Putta Mahesh has pleaded his “innocence” in the drug case and claimed he had not been involved in any drug case in Hyderabad. After facing the case and the chief minister sidelined him from party activities, Mahesh went to his camp office at Eluru from Hyderabad, following a massive rally from Gannavaram airport on Sunday. Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Chintalapudi MLA Songa Roshan, Eluru MLA Badeti Radhakrishnaiah (Chanti), Jana Sena MLA of Ungutur Dharma Raju, APCOB chairman Ganni Veeranjaneyulu and others welcomed Mahesh and expressed their solidarity with him.Mahesh told the media that he had no role in the Hyderabad drug case and that the allegations against him were false. However, the case being under investigation, he would not say anything more.MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar said it was natural for political leaders to face allegations from those who harbour ill will against them. However, it was “deeply regrettable” that the Eluru MP had been targeted.
