BHOPAL: A severe heatwave swept across Madhya Pradesh with mercury hovering above 42-degree Celsius in many districts in the state on Saturday. A heatwave warning was in place in 16 districts in the state. Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district in the state remained the hottest place in the state, recording the season’s highest temperature so far of 43.2-degree Celsius. Other cities in the state, Umaria, Tikamgarh, Nowgong, and Mandla, scorched while experiencing maximum day temperature of 42.9-degree Celsius, 42.8-degree Celsius, 42.6-degree Celsius and 42.5-degree Celsius respectively. Cities of Datia, Damoh and Guna recorded 42.2-degree Celsius each. Nine cities in the state recorded above 41-degree Celsius. They were Satna and Sagar (41.8-degree each), Chhindwara (41.6-degree Celsius), Shajapur and Narmadapuram (41.4-degree each), and Narasinghpur, Sidhi, Malajkhand and Rewa (41.2-degree Celsius each). Bhopal and Indore recorded 41-degree Celsius and 40.6-degree Celsius respectively.
