Kolkata: Promoting women in the organisation, Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday made Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar the chief whip and Birbhum MP Satabdi Roy the deputy leader of their parliamentary party in Lok Sabha. Ms Ghosh Dastidar earlier held the post of deputy leader. TMC posted on X-handle, “Shri Kalyan Banerjee submitted his resignation yesterday to the Chairperson from the post of Chief Whip of the @AITCofficial Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha. The Chairperson has accepted his resignation and thanked him for his contributions in that role.” It added, “In consultation with senior parliamentarians, the Chairperson has nominated Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar as the new Chief Whip of the @AITCofficial in the Lok Sabha and Smt. Satabdi Roy as the new Deputy Leader of the AITC in the Lok Sabha with immediate effect.” Referring to his party chief, Mr Banerjee later posted, “To The Chairperson, Thanks for accepting my resignation. Regards. Kalyan Banerjee @MamataOfficial @AITCofficial”. TMC insiders however pointed out that the acceptance of his resignation came as a surprise since Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee, who became the leader of the parliamentary party in Lok Sabha on Monday, wanted to talk to him during the day in New Delhi over his sudden resignation from his post.
