CAPF exam soon in 13 regional languages-

NEW DELHI: Days after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin wrote to home minister Amit Shah, urging him to include Tamil as a language for the written exam in the recruitment for Central Reserve Police Force personnel, the government on Saturday announced the Constable (General Duty) exam for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will be held in 13 regional languages.

From January 1 next year, in addition to Hindi and English, the question paper for the examination will also be set in the following regional languages: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani. The Union home ministry said the decision will result in lakhs of youth taking the CAPF exam in their regional language, which could improve their chances of selection.

The state governments and the Union Territory administrations will soon be asked to launch campaigns encouraging local youth to use this opportunity of taking the examination in their mother tongue and participate in huge numbers to make a career serving the country, sources in the ministry said.
