Nellore: The YSRC has strongly condemned the arrest of former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, calling it illegal and politically motivated.Party leaders accused the ruling alliance of using state machinery for vendetta, targeting opposition voices with false cases. Addressing the media in Venkatagiri on Monday, YSRC MLC and Nellore city incharge Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, along with Venkatagiri coordinator Nedurumalli Ram Kumar Reddy, denounced the case filed against Govardhan Reddy over alleged irregularities in mining activities. According to Chandrasekhar Reddy, the case is completely fabricated and based on a false statement, with no credible evidence. During the YSRC regime, similar allegations were investigated thoroughly and found to be baseless. The current government is using the issue as a revenge tactic to suppress opposition leaders. Govardhan Reddy has been named Accused No. 4, and efforts are underway to deny him bail. Police have withheld key details of the arrest — including time and location — violating legal norms. Two others have also been falsely implicated in the same case. Meanwhile, illegal mining under the coalition’s watch, especially in Saidapuram, continues unchecked. “This is a disgraceful abuse of power,” said Chandrasekhar Reddy. “Targeting a former minister, MLA, and ZP chairman in this manner is undemocratic and dangerous.” He warned that if this trend continues, current ministers and MLAs could face similar actions when power shifts. “Political vendetta is a double-edged sword,” he cautioned. Reddy accused the alliance government of fostering a toxic culture of fear and retaliation, adding that such actions discourage people from entering public service. Reddy announced that June 4 will be observed as “Betrayal Day”, marking one year of what the party calls a failed and deceitful rule by the coalition government. The decision follows a call from YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. “The public is ready to question a government that failed to deliver on its promises,” Reddy declared, vowing that the YSRC will fight all false cases legally and stand firm against political intimidation. He concluded with a sharp warning to the Telugu Desam: “If TD continues down this path of vendetta politics, the people will teach them a lesson.”
