VISAKHAPATNAM: Four young men were assaulted by a group of women in Visakhapatnam following accusations that they were secretly filming intimate videos. However, a police inquiry found no evidence to support the claims. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Dwaraka Police Station, near a girls’ hostel and a nearby lodge. According to the women, the youths had allegedly recorded videos from the lodge, targeting the bathroom side of the girls’ hostel. Witnesses reported that the situation escalated when one woman yelled that the men had captured “intimate videos and photos”. Another claimed the alleged recording had continued for four days. Footage of the altercation circulated online, showing the women attacking the young men. One woman was heard saying that the men had promised to “check out from the lodge today”. In the recording, while the women hurled abuses, the men requested them to “talk like a girl”. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dwaraka, A. Narasimha Murthy, said a detailed investigation was conducted, but no videos or photos were found on the accused men’s mobile phones. “We received reports that the girls’ hostel and lodge are in close proximity, and the girls were concerned about being filmed. However, we thoroughly examined the mobile phones and found no evidence,” the ACP stated. The officer termed the incident a “miscommunication” and confirmed that no official case has been registered.
