BERHAMPORE: A migrant worker from Murshidabad in West Bengal was found dead on the railway track under mysterious circumstances in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday afternoon. The body was mutilated. The deceased, Kader Sheikh (30), was from Imamnagar village in Farakka. His uncle Rasikul Sheikh accused a contractor Asif Sheikh and his gang members of beating his cousin to death and then throwing away his body on the railway track to pass it as suicide. Rasikul said, “We came to know about Kader’s death at around 7.45 pm on Saturday. Later we learnt from his fellows that Asif and his gang called him around 12 pm. Once he met them, they whisked him away in a four-wheeler on the pretext of paying his due wages of ₹5 lakhs.” He added, “My cousin was working under Asif for the last nine years. He went to a work site in Andhra Pradesh three weeks ago from our hometown but stopped working for not getting his arrears. We firmly believe it was not a case of suicide.” Farakka Trinamul Congress MLA Manirul Islam said, “The Andhra Pradesh police lodged an FIR into the incident and started a probe. We are making arrangements to bring back the body after post mortem with the help of the state government.”
