War Drama Needs A Different Level Of Physical And Mental Discipline : Varun Dhawan

The recently unveiled teaser of Border 2 by makers T-Series and JP Films has sparked strong excitement, drawing attention to the scale and intensity of the upcoming war drama. As anticipation builds, actor Varun Dhawan has opened up about the physically demanding journey behind the film, which sees him step into the role of a war hero inspired by Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. The star embraced a rigorous training regime focused on strength, endurance and mobility to ensure he was battle-ready for both the character and the shoot’s challenges.Talking about his fitness routine and diet, actor Varun Dhawan said, “Border 2 demanded a different level of physical and mental discipline, especially since we were shooting at real locations like Babina, and such situations really put you in the mindset of a soldier. You’re out there all day, often in tough conditions, so fitness becomes less about looking a certain way and more about stamina and recovery. My routine had to be very functional, lots of strength training, endurance work, and mobility because the terrain and weather can not be kind. Diet-wise, I kept it very clean and simple: high protein, good carbs, and lots of hydration to sustain long outdoor shoots.”Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh.Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series & J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. Backed by a powerful production team including Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh, the film continues the legacy of honouring the heroism and indomitable spirit of Indian soldiers, taking audiences on a spectacular journey of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. Gear up for this monumental saga of patriotism and courage, as Border 2 storms into cinemas on January 23rd 2026.
