Actor Vijay Deverakonda, whose Kingdom will hit the screens on July 31, recently offered candid insights into his career, revealing the reasons behind shedding his famous “The” tag.The Liger actor disclosed that the intense public backlash he received was the primary motivation for him to drop the “the” from his name. Around 2022, he used ‘The Vijay Deverakonda’ on social media. “Interestingly, no other person ever received backlash for something like that,” Deverakonda stated. “You can have any name, from Universal Star to People’s Star, and people younger than me, older than me, those who debuted before me, everyone has a tagline,” he said, suggesting that the backlash is because he is not from an established film family.In the interview, the Geetha Govindam actor admitted that, unlike his peers with influential backing, he is not in a position to challenge directors or request script modifications. He said that another actor, who is as experienced as him, has the capacity to orchestrate extensive script overhauls with multiple writers over several months, thanks to his celebrity father.
