“Speaking to TNIE, Deputy Chief Probation Officer (DCPO) Anjana Gupta elaborated on the support system available. “If the victim gives birth to a child, the child can be placed within the system, potentially through a Special Adoption Agency (SAA), until the age of six, she explained.”DCPO Gupta further told, “The victim herself can be housed and supported until she turns 18.” If the victim chooses not to keep the child, she has the option to hand the child over to a children’s home.Administrative support includes ensuring Aadhaar card registration and birth certificates for both mother and child.The comprehensive services provided cover education, police assistance, medical care, long-term rehabilitation, counselling, mental health support, safe transportation, legal aid, insurance coverage, and care for the newborn child.Regarding financial aid, Anjana Gupta said, “In addition to monthly financial assistance of four thousand rupees, a one-time grant of six thousand rupees will be provided based on the recommendation of the Child Welfare Committee.”
