Nalgonda: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday directed Suryapet district collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar to conduct an inquiry into the chemical waste found in the waters of Krishna river at Mattapally in Suryapet district.Chemical waste floating in the river near the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Mattapally emitted a foul smell, causing inconvenience to devotees and local residents. After the issue was brought to his notice, Uttam Kumar Reddy spoke to the district collector over the phone and instructed him to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident. Meanwhile, officials suspect that the chemical waste may have entered the Krishna river through the Musi river, which joins the Krishna at Wadapally.
