Chirag’s brother-in-law and Jamui MP Arun Bharti had also recently raised the issue of alleged rising crime in Bihar. “You cannot become Dhritarashtra for the nation while ignoring ground realities,” he had remarked. Defending the government, deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said, “You can see that immediate actions are being taken after incidents. I am repeatedly saying the sand mafia who was murdered, people know about him not being a businessman but a mafia.”He then added, “But any incident is sad, and unfortunate. Somehow, with the association of land, liquor mafia, due to weak link of police, and administration, their confidence has increased. The government is taking stringent action. RJD people are involved… As the election is approaching, they are trying to create chaos.”
