Two Minor Boys Drown in Water Body at KS Thanda Village

Hyderabad: Two minor boys died after accidentally slipping into a water body at KS Thanda village under Maheshwaram police station limits in Rangareddy district on Sunday evening.Police said the victims, identified as Mahan Jetawath, 5, a kindergarten student, and Srikanth Jetawath, 8, studying in second standard, were walking along the bund with a cousin when they lost balance and fell into the water. As neither child knew swimming and the water was deep, they drowned before help could arrive.The third child rushed home to alert the parents, who informed the police. Maheshwaram police, Disaster Response Force personnel and emergency services reached the spot, but rescue operations were hampered by darkness and poor visibility.Professional swimmers resumed the search on Monday morning, and after an extensive operation, the bodies were recovered, sent for postmortem examination, and later handed over to the parents.The incident plunged the village into mourning. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances. Officials reiterated advice to parents to keep children away from water bodies and hazardous areas to prevent such tragedies.
