NEW DELHI: The emerging trends in the Bihar Assembly election results indicate a landslide victory for NDA, with BJP emerging as the largest party. The JD(U) initially led but later slipped to the second position.The election campaigns led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar managed to garner votes, from women voters in particular, and the wider electorate in general.The NDA alleged that incidents of crime and extortion would rise if the RJD comes back to power. The alliance highlighted alleged incident of abuses being hurled at the Prime Minister’s mother during a rally in Bihar, along with Rahul Gandhi’s comment on the Chhath against the Mahagathbandhan. One of the key factors tilting the election in favour of the NDA has been the massive turnout of women voters. More than 2.5 crore women cast their votes outnumbering male voters, following the NDA’s announcement of a significant financial support scheme of Rs 10,000 to be deposited into the accounts of over 1.5 crore women.The special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar seems to have helped the NDA stage a grand comeback.
