Tirupati: All property registration offices across Tirupati and other Rayalaseema districts have now adopted the digital slot booking system, marking a major shift towards a structured and time-bound registration process. Introduced by the state government to reduce delays and streamline operations, the system became fully operational across the region on Wednesday.Initially launched as a pilot project in Vijayawada on April 4, the system was gradually extended to registration offices under Zone–IV, which covers Rayalaseema. The Tirupati Registration Office was among the first to implement the system during the pilot phase. With the inclusion of 15 sub-registrar offices in Tirupati district, the rollout is now complete.The slot booking mechanism addresses common issues faced by property buyers and sellers—long queues, overcrowding, and dependence on middlemen. By offering scheduled appointments, the system ensures a more predictable and efficient registration process.According to District Registrar G. Sreeram Kumar, the system is functioning effectively across offices. He noted that transactions are being completed smoothly, with citizens experiencing fewer delays. The Tirupati and Gudur registration offices, each supported by two sub-registrars, now handle up to 78 registrations per day, while other offices offer 39 slots daily.Users can access the booking system via the official IGRS website. Available time slots are marked in green, and upon confirmation, a QR-coded token is generated. Registrants must visit the respective office at the scheduled time with the token and necessary documents. If a booking is missed, it may be rescheduled for a fee of ₹200.Officials said the new approach not only improves efficiency but also enhances transparency by reducing the influence of unauthorised agents. The system is expected to particularly benefit senior citizens and differently abled individuals, who previously found the process physically demanding.
