Nellore: Following the rising tensions along the India-Pakistan border, security has been significantly tightened at major religious sites across the country and Tirumala, housing the sacred Lord Venkateswara Temple, is no exception.The Ministry of Defence has placed key pilgrimage centres under special watch. Authorities carried out a massive drill and search operation in and around Tirumala to test the readiness and coordination among security forces. The multi-layered security apparatus of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is on full alert, ensuring that no untoward incidents occur at one of India’s most visited temples. TTD Vigilance, teams from police, Special Protection Force (SPF), elite OCTOPUS commandos, and state intelligence sleuths are combing the entire hill town, including the three high-footfall areas like Akhilandam in front of the main temple, the GNC Tollgate, and the Shopping Complex area. Speaking to media, DSP Vijay Shekhar stated, “These drills are essential to ensure that our teams are fully prepared to respond swiftly in case of any threat. All departments are working in unison to carry out detailed checks across multiple points.”
