Telangana Launches ₹6,478 cr Rural Road Network Under HAM

Hyderabad:In a bid to strengthen rural connectivity, the state government has cleared a ₹6,478 crore road development programme under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).Announcing the initiative on Wednesday, roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy called the project a major step toward balanced development. “Good roads are more than infrastructure; they are the foundation of economic growth and regional equity,” he said. “This plan will link every village to its mandal and every mandal to its district headquarters with high quality roads.”Phase 1 will be executed in 17 packages, covering 373 roads with a combined length of 5,190 km. Tenders have been issued, and construction will begin shortly. The blueprint calls for blacktop roads from villages to mandal centres and double lane roads from mandals to district headquarters, aiming to improve transportation, access to services, and overall mobility. The minister thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for swiftly approving the plan and praised the roads and buildings department, led by Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, for completing field visits and preparing the detailed project report.“This government believes in growth that reaches the grassroots,” Venkat Reddy said. “With HAM, we are not just laying roads; we’re paving the way to Telangana’s future.”The road programme forms part of a broader strategy to deliver both welfare and development, emphasising long term transformation over short-term fixes, he added.
