BENGALURU: A primary teacher Lakshmi (29) and her paramour Krishnamurthy (30), a driver get death penalty by 4TH Additional District and Sessions Judge, Bhadravathi Indira Mayilaswamy Chettiar after the Court found them guilty in a murder in July, 2016. Another convicted person Shivaraju (32), a home guard, got 7 years imprisonment in the same case. The death penalty was pronounced by the Court on Saturday. P. Ratnamma was the public prosecutor.Lakshmi along with her lover Krishnamurthy were convicted in the murder of Imityaz Ahmed Khan, husband of convicted Lakshmi. Imtiyaz worked as a primary school teacher at a government school. While convicted Shiravaju helped the duo in disposing of the body of Imtiyaz.Lakshmi and Imtiyaz were in love and got married through register marriage in 2011 in Kalaburagi before they moved to Bhadravathi. While Lakshmi worked at a school in Bhadravathi of Shivamogga, Imtiyaz worked at a school in Soraba also in Shivamogga. Their married life went well, until Krishnamurthy, a childhood friend of Lakshmi descended on the scene.Krishnamurthy came close to Lakshmi in quick time and later rented a house adjacent to the house where Lakshmi lived in Bhadravathi. Imtiyaz grew suspicious over Krishnamurthy and Lakshmi after Krishnamurthy came to live closer to Lakshmi.Both Lakshmi and Krishnamurthy exchanged messages over their mobile phones and the exchange of messages came to the knowledge of Imtiyaz counselled Lakshmi and Krishnamurthy to stop messaging each other.In July 2016, Imtiyaz left to bring home Lakshmi from Bhadravathi to celebrate Ramzan. On July 8, 2016, Imtiyaz’s brother Ejaz Ahmed received a call from Lakshmi to reach Bhadravathi immediately. He reached Bhadravathi in a couple of hours only to hear that Imtiyaz had been murdered.Lakshmi said the murder took place accidentally after an altercation with Imtiyaz. She stated she hit Imtiyaz in the head with an iron rod and he collapsed. The body of Imtiyaz was found in a pool of blood and later his body was dumped in River Bhadra flowing through Bhadravathi. Lakshmi made an appeal to Ejaz Ahmed to hush up the matter.However, Ejaz Ahmed complained to the police suspecting the murder of Imtiyaz to be a pre-planned over illicit affair between his sister-in-law and her paramour Krishnamurthy.
