Kurnool: The incessant rains that have been lashing Nandyal district over the past few days have caused breaches in several tanks across the district, raising fears among farmers about possible water loss and crop damage in the Jalakanur, Chintalapalli, and Sunkesula areas.Joint collector C. Vishnu Charan, who inspected the affected tanks on Monday, directed irrigation officials to immediately take up repair works to prevent further damage. He instructed them to initiate restoration on a war footing and ensure that the breaches are plugged without delay. The joint collector assured that the repairs would be completed at the earliest, allowing water to be supplied smoothly for irrigation. He said farmers need not worry as all necessary measures are being taken to protect crops and ensure uninterrupted water supply. Farmers, however, expressed concern that the breaches, if left unattended, could endanger their standing crops in the command areas. He said the district administration is closely monitoring the situation, and officials have been deployed to oversee the works.
