Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu inspected the progress of the MLA/MLC quarters complex under construction in 12 towers at Amaravati on Wednesday. He appreciated Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his vision to develop Amaravati into one of the best capital cities in the world.Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials informed the Speaker that the 12 towers, accommodating 288 MLAs and MLCs, would be completed by December, while quarters for 35 ministers and the heads of the Assembly and Legislative Council would be ready by March next year. Based on feedback received, the Speaker instructed officials to expedite construction works and adhere to the schedule. He also suggested planting trees to provide green cover, given that a large number of people are expected to visit their elected representatives. He called for visitor amenities, including a canteen. The Speaker expressed hope that legislators would be able to occupy the new quarters before the Budget session. He also proposed using treated water from sewage treatment plants to grow horticultural crops, installing solar panels, and ensuring proper rainwater harvesting systems within the residential complex.
