The North American Aerospace Defense Command released a statement Saturday saying it had intercepted six Russian aircraft operating off the coast of Alaska. (Gavriil Grigorov, Sputnik, Kremlin Pool Photo via AP)”Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace,” the statement added. “These flights occurred as several planned large-scale U.S. military training exercises are ongoing in Alaska.”The Russian aircraft, according to the press release, were Tu-95 bombers and IL-78 tanker and Su-35 fighter aircraft.
