Adilabad: Senior Congress leaders, including former MLAs, MPs, and constituency in-charges, are vying for protocol posts, feeling sidelined by rivals for not being invited onto the dais at official events. Some have even begun skipping programmes, limiting their role to receiving ministers at helipads.BJP and BRS leaders have raised objections to Congress leaders occupying seats on the dais during official events, resulting in the latter being asked to step down and sit off-stage.. In a recent incident, BJP leaders raised their objection to the Adilabad Assembly Constituency in charge, Kandi Srinivas Reddy, sitting on the dais at the Bhu Bharati programme held a few days ago in Pusai in Jainad mandal. Congress Adilabad town president Gudipalli Nagesh said it will be difficult for them to take advantage of the government welfare and development schemes being implemented by the state government if they were not present on the dais and not seen.He said people will recognise leaders only when they get priority during party programmes and if top political leaders give priority to local second rung leaders and Assembly Constituency incharges in most cases when elections for local bodies are held in near future.Leaders aspiring for protocol posts are making a beeline for the in-charge minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka and requesting her to provide them with some nominated posts with protocol so that they can proudly participate in the government officials’ programmes. Some Congress leaders are also feeling insulted when police are pushing them to the sides to clear their way for the MLAs and ministers, and collectors and some leaders are keeping themselves away from the crowd.Minister Seethakka and the lone Congress MLA Vedma Bojju were helpless and remained mere spectators when BJP and BRS cadre and leaders objected to Congress leaders without post or any protocol sitting on the dais since they have to follow the rule and can’t asks officials to allow the Congress leaders to share the dais during official programmes. Now, senior Congress leaders are under pressure to accept even posts like market committee chairman and chairman of district Grandalaya Samsta to avoid embarrassing situations due to not having any protocol post.In this backdrop, even former MLAs and MP who recently joined the Congress from BJP or BRS are not attending government official programmes and just receiving the ministers at the helipad.
