HYDERABAD: Singareni Collieries CMD N. Balram stated that the company aims to ramp up coal production to 100 million tonnes soon, significantly increase thermal power generation capacity to 3,000 MW, and boost solar power output to 5,000 MW to steer the country toward self-sufficiency. The company at present supplies coal not only to thermal power plants in the state but also meets the electricity needs of four other states. Currently, it provides 1,200 MW of thermal power and 245.5 MW of solar power. Taking part in 79th Independence Day celebrations after hoisting the National Flag at the company head office in the city, Balram highlighted Singareni’s 136-year-old legacy and its critical role in Telangana’s progress and said that the company was developing a 500 MW pumped storage power plant and venturing into green hydrogen and methanol production. With a focus on worker welfare and discipline, Balram called for collective effort to realise these goals while wishing everyone a happy Independence Day. To meet market challenges, the CMD emphasised enhancing productivity, reducing production costs, ensuring coal quality and maintaining good relations with customers by adjusting coal prices.
