However, the court said it don’t want citizens’ rights to be dependent on workers of political parties. Instead, the court asked the commission why it can’t put these names on display board or on website. Those aggrieved can take remedial measures within 30 days, the top court said. The Commission, which said it is operating in atmosphere of sharp political hostility, agreed to share list of voters who have died, migrated or shifted at district level. There is “hardly any decision which is not contested,” ECI told the court. The ECI also told the apex court that it has enough reservoir of power to take certain decisions.The commission said that it is caught in the struggle between political parties which claim the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) is good if they win, but bad if they loose. It also informed the court that based on conservative estimate, around 6.5 crore people are not required to submit any documents for SIR in Bihar.
