RSSS Seeks Focus On Horticulture Mission Implementation

Anantapur: Rayalaseema Saguneeti Sadhana Samithi (RSSS) president Bojja Dasaratha Rami Reddy on Saturday welcomed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s request to the Centre for allocation of funds under the Horticulture Mission for the development of backward Rayalaseema and Prakasam districts.Speaking at an executive committee meeting of the Samithi at Nandyal, he said the CM’s assertion that a Horticulture Hub would transform farmers’ lives had raised hopes in Rayalaseema. However, he expressed concern over the lack of visible progress despite announcements in the Union Budget 2025–26 regarding the Purvodaya Scheme, industrial hubs at Orvakal and Kopparthi, and development of backward districts as per the AP Reorganisation Act.He said the delay in implementation was creating doubts among the people about the seriousness of the Horticulture Mission. The Samithi president also noted that the Chief Minister’s remarks on the State’s fragile financial condition were causing public anxiety, observing that deficiencies in post-bifurcation planning had weakened Andhra Pradesh’s finances.Rami Reddy said even funds required to provide water connectivity from completed irrigation projects to farmlands in Rayalaseema were not being released. He termed it unfortunate that no allocations had been made for years for renovation of key projects such as the Alaganur Reservoir and the Annamayya Project, and for rectification works at the Srisailam Project.Calling the situation “critical,” he urged the government to release a White Paper on the State’s financial condition and place a transparent action plan before the public. He also sought an all-party meeting to discuss measures to restore financial stability and public confidence.Vice-presidents Yerram Shankar Reddy, Cherukuri Venkateswara Naidu, Yeruva Ramachandra Reddy, Patnam Ramudu and others attended the meeting.
