
BENGALURU: While a formal autopsy report is awaited on the death of business tycoon and chairman of Confident Group C.J. Roy, however, preliminary findings reveal a single 6.35 mm bullet allegedly shot on him by Roy “instantanesouly” led to his death. The initial observations stated Roy collapsed immediately (after being hit by a bullet). The bullet shot allegedly by Roy ruptured the left side of his heart and lungs and travelled to the back of the chest (before it got stuck). “There was no exit wound visible on the body,” said Dr Aravind M.N. Superintendent of Bowring Hospital on Saturday in Bengaluru where the body of C.J. Roy underwent an autopsy examination. C.J. Roy allegedly shot himself with his pistol at his private office at the Confident Group’s Corporate Office near Richmond Circle of Bengaluru city on Friday at around 3.15 pm. When Roy shot himself dead, a team of Income Tax officials from Kerala were at the Corporate Office to question Roy over alleged tax evasion. Roy’s brother C.J. Babu alleged his brother had brought to his notice the alleged pressure mounted on him IT officials and he suspected the pressure exerted on Roy would be the reason for his brother taking the drastic step to end his life by way of suicide. Meanwhile, Forensic Science experts collected gunpowder samples and also drew blood samples from the body of Roy for analysis. A pre-autopsy CT scan was also conducted on Roy’s body. In Bengaluru, Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar told reporters “Roy arrived from Dubai three-days. (On Friday), Roy was questioned by IT officials at his office and in the meantime, he told IT officials to return in 5 minutes. But, even after 20-minutes he did not return from his chamber and the door of the office was opened to find Roy dead by suicide.” “Have directed the police department to begin a preliminary investigation into the death of Roy,” said the Home Minister.SIT Will Probe Roy’S DeathCommissioner of Police, Bengaluru city Seemanth Kumar Singh on Saturday ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged suicide by Chairman of Confident Group and honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic C.J. Roy by taking the unnatural death case registered at Ashok Nagar police station in Bengaluru city on Friday. “In order to ensure a comprehensive and meticulous investigation into the death of C.J. Roy, a SIT has been constituted,” said the Commissioner in a note released here and assured all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined by the SIT. The SIT will be headed by Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone C. Vamshi Krishna and the Deputy Commissioner of Police South Division Lokesh Jagalasar will function as the investigating officer while Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Division Akshay Hake along other senior officers deputed from various divisions and special units, will be the members. The SIT, the Commissioner said, has been empowered to induct additional officers and resources as required for the purpose of the investigation.
