Renovated Warangal Railway Station Awaits Grand Opening

WARANGAL: The Warangal Railway Station redevelopment works taken up under the AMRIT Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at an estimated cost of ₹25.41 crore are nearing completion and the railway station will be inaugurated in Warangal.The station on the Kazipet-Vijayawada section is a vital transport link connecting New Delhi, Chennai, Vijayawada and Secunderabad. It operates four platforms and manages approximately 137 trains daily including several superfast services and serves an average of 31,887 passengers each day. Railway chief engineer S. Srinivas speaking to Deccan Chronicle said that the redevelopment works include a revamped station entrance featuring the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, a 12-metre-wide foot-over-bridge with 3 lifts and 4 escalators to improve accessibility and renovated platforms, upgraded roofing along with modern LED lighting. Waiting halls constructed with modern furniture and hygienic toilets, improved parking facilities, installation of digital display boards, coach indicators and passenger-friendly signage for real-time train information and deployment of automated ticketing machines and organised queue lines at ticket counters Dedicated zones for parking, escalators and elevators ensure accessibility for all, including senior citizens and differently-abled passengers, he added. Railway official Rajesh Kalyan told this newspaper that the Ministry of Railways has developed a comprehensive master plan to reimagine the station, not just in terms of infrastructure but also in aesthetics, accessibility and passenger comfort. More than 85 per cent of the redevelopment work has already been completed, with final-stage works progressing swiftly.
