Acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli recently had a virtual interaction with legendary Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, sparking much excitement. The Zoom call included Rajamouli’s son and producer S.S. Karthikeya, and has given rise to speculation about a potential collaboration. Hideo Kojima took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a screenshot of the virtual meeting, writing: “With director S.S. Rajamouli and his son and producer, S.S. Karthikeya.” Quoting the post, Karthikeya added, “Beyond excited for this,” fuelling curiosity and excitement among fans and industry watchers alike. While some sources suggest the meeting may have been a casual conversation rather than a project-specific discussion, the timing of the call, coinciding with pre-production work for Rajamouli’s next film, seems to indicate something more concrete. Rajamouli and Kojima first met during the promotional tour of the former’s RRR in Japan back in 2022, where they reportedly bonded over a shared passion for storytelling, video games, and cinema. Rajamouli had expressed his admiration for Kojima, tweeting after their in-person meeting: “Delighted and honoured to meet the legendary @hideo_kojima in Japan. Talked to him about video games, movies, and much more… Will cherish these memories for long.”
