WARANGAL: Errabelli Pradeep Rao, the former chairman of the Warangal Urban Cooperative Bank (WUCB), has accused endowments minister Konda Surekha of halting the bank elections due to a personal grudge against him.The term of the bank’s current governing body ended on July 30. According to regulations, new elections should have been held; however, they have been postponed allegedly due to political reasons. Pradeep Rao claimed that certain individuals have lodged complaints about the bank’s operations to exert pressure on the officials. The complaints included allegations of problems with loans, fraudulent memberships and misuse of bank funds by management. Pradeep Rao alleged that Surekha utilised the complaints to her advantage and using her influence to delay the bank elections. He also said that the minister has failed to address the complaints. Pradeep Rao, who served as the bank’s chairman for approximately 25 years, alleges that his rivals are attempting to prevent him from being re-elected by delaying the elections. In a recent statement, Pradeep Rao emphasised that he and his team transformed the bank from a loss-making entity into a profitable one. He challenged minister Surekha to face him in political elections rather than using her influence in WUCB elections He said no previous government or political leader had interfered with the bank’s affairs in such a manner.
