Power Restored Swiftly Across AP amid Adverse Weather: Electricity Department

Vijayawada: Power supply was swiftly restored across Andhra Pradesh after unseasonal rains, gales and strong winds disrupted services in several areas. AP Power Utilities responded on a war footing, reinstating supply in record time.Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand held a virtual review with officials of AP Power Utilities to assess disruptions and restoration efforts. He commended field staff and engineers for working tirelessly under challenging conditions to minimise public inconvenience. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar are closely monitoring the situation and stressed proactive planning and swift response to weather-induced challenges. CMD of APCPDCL, A.K.V. Bhaskar, said 129 33kV feeders and 482 11kV feeders were affected. Of these, 125 and 477 respectively have been restored, and the rest are expected to be operational by 10 p.m. CMD of APEPDCL, I. Prudhvi Tej, said 177 33kV and 742 11kV feeders were impacted. Restoration has been completed for 176 and 699 respectively, with the remaining to be restored by 10 p.m. CMD of APSPDCL, K. Santosha Rao, said four 33kV feeders and 13 11kV feeders were affected. Two each remain under restoration and are expected to be completed by tonight. Vijayanand stressed that power supply to critical services, particularly drinking water facilities, must remain uninterrupted. He instructed all levels of power staff—from linemen to CMDs—to remain alert and responsive to ensure timely restoration.
