Ponnam Seeks Budget Funds for Telangana Projects

Hyderabad:Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday urged MPs from Telangana, particularly BJP representatives and Union ministers, to move beyond politics and press for adequate fund allocations to the State in the upcoming Union budget.Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Ponnam said the BJP-led NDA government had remained unfair to Telangana over the past decade. “Despite having a proper representative from the state and presently eight BJP members, the Union government has consistently neglected Telangana. It’s high time that justice is done to our state in the budget,” he said.He recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and several ministers had already made representations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers seeking allocations for developmental projects. The minister urged the Centre to sanction funds for the Regional Ring Road, radial roads between the Outer Ring Road and the RRR, Musi river development, Hyderabad Metro Rail, Hyderabad Airport Greenfield Highway, airport expansion, railway projects and other new proposals.“Special funds should be sanctioned for the development of Telangana as part of Vision 2047. The people of Telangana are distressed because they feel they are being subjected to discrimination. If Telangana is betrayed once again, BJP MPs from the state should raise their voices for the sake of the state’s interests,” Ponnam added.
