Police Bust Minor Boy’s Kidnap Case, Two Women Among 3 Held in Hanamkonda

Warangal: The police rescued a 17-year-old boy who had been kidnapped for ransom and arrested three gang members, including two women, here in Hanamkonda on Sunday. They seized an autorickshaw, two bottles of petrol and three mobiles from the accused.ACP P. Narasimha Rao identified the arrested as Poori Padma (45) and her son Poori Raju alias Naresh (25), both residents of Enugulagadda in Hanamkonda, and Jetty Jyothi (28) of Regubelli village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. A fourth suspect, Sreekanth, remains at large, and police have launched a manhunt for him.Padma had worked as a daily-wage labourer for a caterer named Ramana in Hanamkonda but left after a financial dispute. Believing Ramana owed her money, she plotted with Raju, Sreekanth and her daughter-in-law Jyothi to kidnap Ramana’s 17-year-old relative. On the boy’s way to a friend’s home in Naimnagar, they forcibly abducted him into an autorickshaw and transported him via Mulugu to Aswapuram in Bhadradri Kothagudem. There, they compelled the boy to call his mother and threatened to kill him unless they received Rs 12 lakh. Over several days, the gang moved him between locations, beat him with sticks and threatened him with petrol, warning that they would set him alight if he tried to escape.Meanwhile, the boy’s parents filed a complaint, prompting a police investigation. Unaware of this, the kidnappers decided to abduct Ramana as well when they received no ransom response. On Sunday morning, the gang returned to Hanamkonda. Spotting police conducting a vehicle check near the Yadavnagar petrol pump, they abandoned the autorickshaw and tried to flee. Officers pursued and arrested Padma, Raju and Jyothi, while Sreekanth escaped.ACP Rao commended inspector M. Shiva Kumar, SI K. Kishore, AAO Salman Pasha and constables V. Ashok, D. Karunakar, B. Satish, Vinoosha, Karunya, Ravi and Yugendar for successfully resolving the case.
