Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Maharashtra for the second time within a week even as the BJP has set the target of winning minimum 45 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Mr. Modi will on Friday visit Solapur, where he will hand over possession of 15,000 houses to people from the economically weaker section. He will also lay the foundation stone of eight AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) projects worth around Rs. 2,000 crores. A senior official said that the Prime Minister will arrive at Solapur around 10.30 am. “The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Solapur at around 10:45 AM in the presence of chief minister Eknath Shinde and his two deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar,” he said.According to the state government, the Prime Minister will dedicate more than 90,000 houses completed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) in the state. “The Prime Minister will also dedicate 15,024 houses of Raynagar Housing Society in Solapur, whose beneficiaries comprise of workers from unorganised sectors including thousands of handloom workers, vendors, power loom workers, rag pickers, Bidi workers, drivers, among others,” it said.Officials said that this is the biggest housing project in the country for the unorganised sectors. The ground breaking ceremony of the project was performed on 365 acres land by Mr. Modi on January 9, 2019. The Prime Minister will also kickstart the distribution of the first and second installments to 10,000 beneficiaries of PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANIDHI) in the state during his two hours programme. He will also address the beneficiaries of the government schemes in Solapur.
