Naidu Seeks Approval For Polavaram-Banakacharla Project: CM Naidu

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has urged the Centre to notify Amaravati as the ‘capital’ in the Reorganisation Act, as it has been 10 years since the state was bifurcated. Naidu is on a two-day visit to Delhi during which he met Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitaraman, CR Patil, Prahlad Joshi and Jitender Singh on Friday. He submitted to them memorandums on various issues and sought additional funds for the state. The CM congratulated Rajnath Singh for making Operation Sindoor a success. Naidu said he would mention Swarnandhra 2047 in the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday, and that he has asked for not only financial assistance but also favourable new proposals. Addressing the media in Delhi on Friday night, Naidu said, “The Polavaram-Banakacharla project will cost Rs 80,000 crore. Some 200 TMC can be diverted through this project. The Polavaram-Banakacharla project does not cause any problem to other states. We will use the water that goes into the sea through the Polavaram-Banakacharla project. We will start the work on this project as soon as the Centre gives permission. We have requested finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman to provide us the funds.” About destruction in AP in the previous regime, Naidu stated, “There was massive destruction in AP between 2019-24. It will take ten years to recover the state from the destruction caused by the YSRC. We promised in the elections that we would rebuild the state. We are making all efforts accordingly. The previous government had left unpaid bills worth Rs 1.20 lakh crore. The state has received the highest amount of investments this year. Every time I come to Delhi, I meet seven Union ministers.” Regarding the Suryagarh scheme, he said, “We aspire to provide electricity to 35 lakh families under Suryagarh. We aim to provide electricity to 10,000 families in each assembly constituency. We have requested the Centre to support the implementation of Suryagarh. Our government has brought the AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy. According to this policy, 72 gigawatts of green energy should be produced. We have requested minister Pralhad Joshi to provide a green energy corridor worth Rs 28,346 crore. He responded positively to this.” The CM said, “6,000 acres are available in the Jaggayyapet-Donakonda cluster. We have requested that this cluster be developed as a missile and ammunition protection centre. We have requested that a military and civil aircraft and electronic manufacturing centre be established in the Lepakshi-Madakasira cluster. We have requested that naval experiment centres be established in the Visakhapatnam-Anakapalle cluster. We have requested the manufacturing of military drones, robotics and advanced defence components in the Kurnool-Orvakal cluster. We have requested the setting up of a DRDO Centre of Excellence at IIT Tirupati. Minister Rajnath Singh has responded positively to our proposals.”To make AP a Green Energy Hub, Naidu said the Centre has approved the generation of 2,000 megawatts of electricity under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM). “AP is going to become a green energy hub. It will be possible to supply electricity 24 hours a day through green energy.”
