Muralidhar Rao Silent, ACB Probes Son

Hyderabad:Retired irrigation officer C. Muralidhar Rao, under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a disproportionate assets case, continued to remain silent during his fourth consecutive day of questioning on Saturday. With the officer offering little cooperation, the agency is likely to shift focus to his son, Sai Abhishek Rao, particularly his business investments and income sources.Despite repeated questioning about specific transactions and properties, Muralidhar Rao reportedly claimed he had forgotten the details. His non-cooperation has compelled the ACB to examine financial links between the officer and his son, suspecting that unaccounted funds may have been routed into business ventures.Sources said the ACB compared Muralidhar Rao’s government salary and official entitlements with the value of his assets and found significant discrepancies, particularly when matched against bank account statements.Investigators found that the accused officer operated more than six bank accounts. However, he is believed to have conducted most transactions in cash rather than through digital or online modes. This pattern of high-volume cash movement has raised suspicion that public funds may have been diverted into private ventures under the guise of his son’s businesses.ACB officials are now expected to summon Sai Abhishek Rao for questioning as the probe widens to trace the financial trail and unearth possible benami holdings.
