Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni assured that the NDA coalition government will provide a permanent resolution to the longstanding issues of Pulleti Katta drain and bad roads, which are among the major concerns in Vijayawada City.During his visit of the 3rd Division area, including the Gunadala panchayat and post office areas, Sivanath, along with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan, personally inspected the Pulleti Katta road, accompanied by officials of the urban planning and engineering departments as well as local residents.The MP conceded that roads in the city overflow with water even after a light rainfall. He recalled that in 2014, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had secured nearly ₹450 crore from the centre to enhance the city’s drainage system. However, works initiated using these funds had been halted by the YSRC government that took over power in 2019 elections. Since then, the city’s development has remained neglected.Sivanath assured that the coalition government will take up expansion of the Pulleti Katta drain and roads associated with it. In this regard, he said it may become necessary to temporarily close certain roads in the colony. The MP said a meeting will be held with the municipal commissioner to expand the road on both sides and construct the drain from ESI Hospital to Ramesh Hospital. This would prevent stagnation of sewage, thereby protecting public health.MLA Gadde Rammohan assured that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is willing to allocate whatever funds necessary for resolving the city’s drainage issues.
