Visakhapatnam: A group of 30 women farmers from Meghalaya arrived in Paderu to learn natural farming techniques from local women farmers. The training initiative is being conducted under a collaborative programme involving the Andhra Pradesh State Government’s Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS), and the State Tribal Farmers’ Association, Nittaputtu. The three organisations have been successfully implementing organic farming in various villages of Meghalaya over the past three years. As part of the ongoing collaboration, the tribal women farmers from Meghalaya have come to the Paderu area of Alluri Seetharamaraju district for a 10-day training programme. On Saturday, the visiting farmers toured Birmishala and Gurrampanuku villages, where they observed paddy cultivation through organic methods. The field visits provided exposure to various aspects of organic farming, including soil conservation, low-cost cultivation techniques, and self-empowerment. The training session was attended by members of the RySS regional team, the science and research wing, and local farmers. According to the organisers, these activities not only strengthen inter-state connections but also help promote the expansion of organic farming at a national level.
