Kothagudem: The medical and health officials cracked whip against the private hospitals that were running in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and violating the guidelines of Clinical Establishments Act (Registration and Regulation) 2010.
The district medical and health officer of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district constituted eight teams-each team with four doctors and conducting raids on private hospitals that were running without any rules. The teams inspected 141 private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres in 21 mandals so far. They issued show-cause notices to 41 hospitals and seventeen clinics in the district.
Many of the private hospitals did not have MBBS doctors and these institutions posted private medical practitioners and para-medical staff in these clinics. The team is shocked when a dental hospital in Kothagudem, a clinic, is being run without any license. Government doctors Sirisha, Sujatha, Chetan, Srinivas, Srukrutha and Rajkumar and district deputy media and extension officer Mohammad Faizmohiuddin raided the clinics and private hospitals.
The Telangana government has adopted the Clinical Establishments Act by issuing a GO. No. 64 to check the lacunae in the private hospitals. The private hospitals are collecting massive fees from the patients by appointing para-medical employees. Some of the hospitals did not have qualified doctors.
The hospitals are using expired antigens in the medical tests and such antigens were found in the refrigerators. The operation theaters in some hospitals are not having protective measures. The diagnostic centres do not maintain the protocols like registers and scanning details. The filling up of ‘F’ forms while scanning the pregnant women is not being maintained. As per the norms, scanning of pregnant women before three months should not be done. But, some of the centres are scanning for such cases.
District medical and health officer Dayananda Swamy said, “Clinical and medical waste is not being treated properly and each hospital should maintain colour dustbins to segregate the medical waste”. He said that they issued show-cause notices to seventeen clinics and hospitals.
