Kavitha Demands Action Against Teenmar Mallanna

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has strongly condemned alleged derogatory remarks made by MLC Teenmar Mallanna. She lodged a formal complaint with Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, urging him to use his discretionary powers to suspend Mallanna from his post.Addressing the media, Kavitha emphasized the importance of upholding respect for women in public life: “In Telangana, we treat women with special regard. We come from a culture that sees even a girl child as a form of divinity. Women are now stepping into politics and public discourse. If people in responsible positions use abusive language against them, how can we encourage more women to participate?”Kavitha expressed distress over Mallanna’s language, stating that despite working for over a year and a half on Backward Class (BC) issues through Telangana Jagruti, she had never expected such targeted abuse. “Teenmar Mallanna never spoke to me even once. I don’t understand why he used such words. Is it wrong for women to enter politics? If there is an issue, debate it but why resort to personal abuse?” she questioned. She also criticized the police response to a peaceful protest by Jagruti activists against Mallanna’s comments, alleging that force was used on common people. “Is this democracy? The lives of many are connected to this movement. Jagruti has conducted many peaceful programs, and our fight for BC rights will continue,” she said.Kavitha demanded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy take swift action and arrest Teenmar Mallanna. She also announced plans to approach the National Women’s Commission regarding the issue. “We won’t remain silent. People like me are supported by crores. We will continue our programs, but abusive politics must be stopped,” she added.
