Thiruvananthapuram: A documentary titled “Pinarayi the Legend,” chronicling Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s personal and political journey, was released by actor Kamal Haasan in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.Produced by the Left-led Kerala Secretariat Employees Association, the documentary aims to showcase the leader’s influence on the state and its people. The 30-minute film premiered at the Central Stadium near the secretariat, highlights Pinarayi’s nine-year tenure as chief minister. The documentary was made to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the government.Speaking at the launch of the documentary, Pinarayi praised Kamal Haasan as a personality who holds a special place in the hearts of Malayalis.” Kamal Haasan, beyond being a great actor, is a man with a Leftist mindset and has demonstrated his commitment to social issues. Regarding the documentary, the chief minister expressed that he had watched the film produced by the Secretariat Employees’ Association. “I watched the documentary and wondered what kind of criticism they would face for creating it. However, there is a mistake in the documentary; my mother’s name is shown incorrectly.”Pinarayi further stated that the people of the state want the LDF government to continue. He emphasized that people are looking for stable governance.Earlier, while praising the documentary, Kamal Haasan commended the development initiatives and social welfare measures implemented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during his nine years in office.Meanwhile, the Congress-led opposition UDF has accused the chief minister of self-glorification at a time when the state is grappling with a severe financial crisis and a range of issues affecting the common man. They assert that the documentary is designed to mislead people ahead of the crucial assembly elections.
