New Delhi: This was one `Friendship Day’ message one cannot miss easily. A diplomatic way of communicating warmth and bonding.First the Iranian Embassy in India wished the Indian government a “Happy Friendship Day” with a short emotional note of deep connect among two countries. Hours later, the Indian Embassy in Iran responded with equal warmth wishing for a long lasting friendship and calling for a “Long Live India Iran dosti.” “From the dawn of civilization through the trials of history, the friendship between the great nations of Iran and India has endured — transcending dynasties and rulers, faiths and beliefs. It is a bond interwoven with literature, language, philosophy, ethics, and art, reflected in the remarkable similarities of our peoples’ daily lives and in the timeless moral, spiritual, and epic spirit of our nations,” wrote Iranian diplomats with emojis of handshake, and national flags of the two countries. Hours later, the Indian diplomats responded with the same warmth. “Thank You @IraninIndia! The India-Iran friendship truly transcends many millennia of interaction and exchanges. Both our people share not only genetic connections but also similar cultural traditions, a history of mutually beneficial economic, literary, culinary and architectural exchanges; and ever lasting affection and respect for each other. Long live Iran-Iran dosti!,” wrote the Indian side. Diplomacy works on the principle of reciprocity: You get what you give. In equal measure. What could be a better example than this!
